Getting Around

Framingham is Connected

Framingham is conveniently located halfway between Boston and Worcester, with direct and easy access to multiple modes of transportation.

I-90 (the MassPike), Route 30, and Route 9 provide vehicular connections from almost anywhere in the city to the rest of the region. MetroWest Regional Transit Authority buses reach ten neighboring communities, while Peter Pan and Greyhound provide access to convenient locations in Boston. Logan Express bus service provides quick and convenient access to Logan International Airport and there is regular commuter rail service between Boston and Worcester. MetroWest Express provides 'reverse commuters' with direct access to major employers in the Framingham Tech Park and 9/90 Corporate Center. LimoLiner and Amtrak, along with easy connection to its Acela Express line, offer service to New York City and the entire eastern seaboard.

Roads

I-90/MassPike

Exit 13 near the Natick border will access Saxonville, Route 9 in the Golden Triangle area, and Lake Cochituate State Park. This is also the best exit for those coming from Boston and points east to visit the Downtown, the Amazing Things Arts Center, and Lake Cochituate.

Exit 12 gives direct access to Framingham’s Tech Park, 9/90 Industrial Park, and the western end of Route 9. It is also the best access to Downtown from points west and for Framingham State University, The Danforth Museum, Garden in the Woods, and Callahan State Park.

Route 9 / Worcester Road

Route 9 is the historic connector between the Massachusetts cities of Boston and Worcester. Framingham, in its position almost exactly halfway between the two, provides a major regional shopping and restaurant mecca along its stretch of Route 9.

Parking in Downtown

Public and retail parking is available for those doing business in the Downtown. City policy limits street parking in the Downtown to two hours in most places, with one exception: in the area around the MetroWest Medical Center, and the Framingham Public Library which is extended to three hours.

For more details on city-wide parking policies, view the City of Framingham Parking Policies.
