May 2, 2019, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM @ Amazing Things Arts Center
In this class, we will choose a piece of fabric to use as a blank canvas. We will learn tricks and techniques to create a work of art on this canvas, using fabric scraps, threads, yarns, and other textiles, to either create an abstract piece of work, or even a “drawing” with machine sewing. We will then use this piece of fabric/ art to create at least two finished products. Perhaps a throw pillow, a lap blanket, wall hanging, or tote bag.
Kim Mowers is primarily a machine sewist, and has been stitching, designing and sewing professionally for 15 years. She began her career designing and sewing handbags and laptop bags under the business name ZAUM, and has since branched out into multiple other creative lines. The Sewist is her latest venture, in which she offers classes and workshops on all things sewing related, as well as custom home decor projects, private sewing lessons, private sewing parties, and sewing refreshers.

In this clinic, Jean will introduce the ChiWalking/ChiRunning form. Walking and running are one of the best ways to lose weight and stay fit. ChiRunning/ChiWalking teaches the use of core muscles rather than leg muscles, allowing the upper body to lead the lower body. This forward movement engages the pull of gravity, which then becomes your ally. This revolutionary method uses the same principles of T'ai Chi by working with core muscles, body alignment and body/mind integration resulting in a proven pain-free, energy efficient way to walk and run. This in turn creates a more focused and enjoyable workout experience for lifelong health and energy. Whether you're walking or running your first 5K or half marathon or marathon, Lisa wants you to get the finish line without injuries, with a huge smile on your face, and with a strong sense of accomplishment, pride and motivation to keep doing more!
