Nature On Tap...Unraveling the Mysteries of Great Shearwaters Off the New England Coast

Wednesday, October 9, 2019

Join us at Jack's Abby Brewery in Framingham for food, a beer and a thought provoking discussion with local experts about their work in the natural world. (Pizza appetizer is included with each ticket.) Pre-registration recommended to guarantee seating. Walk-ins welcome. Great shearwaters (Ardenna gravis) are the most abundant shearwater in the northwest Atlantic during their wintering season, yet we still don't understand that much about them. Using satellite telemetry over the past 7 years, researchers at the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary are starting to figure where they go and how long they stay, along with the reasons why. Kevin Powers is a Seabird Research Contractor with NOAA's Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Registration is required. Register online or call 508-655-2296 to register by phone.
